Today’s cozy read‑aloud features “My Birthday Kinda,” one of Ross Gay’s bright, affectionate essays from The Book of Delights. In this short meditation, Gay reflects on birthdays, time, and the small gestures that make a day feel celebratory — even when the calendar insists otherwise.

For this video, I shaped the reading around a soft “Everyday Delight” arc: how noticing something small can shift the whole texture of a day, and how joy often arrives in the gentlest, most unassuming ways.

Before recording, I created a small index‑card collage:

a colorful HAPPY BIRTHDAY design centered in my handmade red‑with‑black‑dots frame. This creative ritual helps me enter the essay’s world with warmth, curiosity, and affection.

🎥 Watch the full cozy read‑aloud and enjoy this tender, reflective celebration of noticing, gratitude, and the sweetness of marking a day as your own.
